Meet Our Musicians

Les Percussions de Strasbourg systematically propose meeting times to the public during their tours, which can take different forms.

Meetings before and after the concerts

As soon as they can, the musicians of the ensemble devote time to the audience present at the end of the concert. Everyone is invited to come on stage to observe the instruments and to ask any questions that may have arisen during the performance. Since the percussion instruments used are often very numerous and unusual, the artists take the time to explain how they work to those present in order to detail the techniques used in the pieces heard.

Meetings can also be organized before the performances with student musicians from nearby schools and conservatories, who are then invited to attend the concert. The opportunity is then given to discover all the instruments used and to exchange at greater length on the playing techniques and the pieces performed.

Masterclass

It is possible to organize Masterclasses with percussion classes from music schools, conservatories and higher education centres in the cities where the ensemble performs. Les Percussions de Strasbourg has developed a series of proposals around different themes, linked to the history of the group and the perspectives it intends to bring:

  • Les Percussions and their repertoire
  • The stage as a meeting place
  • Pedagogy and new technologies

The guiding line of these exchanges and themes is to offer students a sort of “toolbox” of working and playing together.
