Vassilena Serafimova is a percussionist trained at the CNSMD in Paris and the Juilliard School in New York. Winner of the Second Prize at the ARD International Competition in Munich, the First Prize at the World Marimba Competition in Stuttgart, and the Grand Prix at the FMAJI, she was named “Musician of the Year 2008” in Bulgaria. Invited to perform across Europe, the Americas and Asia, she made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2014. In duo with pianist Thomas Enhco, she recorded Funambules (Deutsche Grammophon, 2016) and Bach Mirror (Sony Classical, 2021). In 2017, she formed the duo Sequenza LIVE with electronic music producer Chloé, performing on the international stage. Co-Artistic Director of Paris Percussion Group and Director of the International Marimba and Percussion Festival of Bulgaria, she teaches at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne. She has created her own mallet series with Vibrawell Mallets.
