with Matchume Zango

With When the Moon of Mourning is Set, Carmine
Emanuele Cella offers a singular exploration of a future
orchestra, through a concerto for augmented vibraphone and
large orchestra. The work is premiered by Minh-TĂąm
Nguyen as soloist, with the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Michele Gamba.

With the RAI National Orchestra, on May 15th 2026 at Rai NuovaMusica, in Turin and on May 18th 2026 at Teatro alla Scala, at the festival Milano Musica.

In an immersive space, the audience shares a community
of fate with 2 performers, 4 percussionists and a choir of
young women. Inspired by Simone Weil’s reflections on
Homer’s Iliad, the trio formed by Brigitta Muntendorf,
Christiane Jatahy and Rosa Montero offers a contemporary
feminist reinterpretation, blending live performance,
filmed images and 3D sound, on the edge of the abyss.

On May 16th, 17th and 18th 2026 at the Wiener Festwochen festival in Vienna. Then on May 23rd and 24th in Hanover at the Kunstfestpiele Herrenhausen.

The Warethwa research project is a collaboration between Les Percussions de Strasbourg and Mozambican timbila player Matchume Zango, centred on orality, listening and the collective invention of a shared language.

This concert, given as part of the Milano Musica Festival, is
the culmination of this work developed through residencies
between Kanda (Mozambique) and Strasbourg (France).

May 19th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd May 2026 at the Festival Milano Musica, Italy.
