Musique de Tables is a piece for three percussionists using tables as their only instrument. The hand positions and movement ‘figures’ are codified in a repertoire of symbols. At the meeting point between music and dance, the gesture is as important as the sound produced.
Les Percussions de Strasbourg and the composer Thierry De Mey continue their collaboration after the show Timelessness with this piece that has become a classic for percussion. Musique de Tables will be presented in Venice as part of the exhibition Bruce Nauman: Contrapposto Studies.
