200 MOTELS, THE SUITES – FRANK ZAPPA

A resolutely versatile artist, Frank Zappa made an unclassifiable film in 1971, 200 Motels, a kind of madcap fictiondocumentary about the life of a rock band, The Mothers of Invention. At the end of a long tour of the United States, the group is invited to take part in a television programme… which soon goes off the rails!

200 Motels – The Suites, a stage version of this now cult film, is a resolutely out-of-the-ordinary show, where rock concert, symphony concert, TV show, opera, musical comedy and documentary all come together in a skillful and joyful blend of genres.

Léo Warynski (conducting) and Antoine Gindt (directing) bring together the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, a rock band (The Headshakers) and the Percussions de Strasbourg for what promises to be a colourful production!

New T&M-Paris production for Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur. Premiered on 21 September 2018 as part of the Musica Festival in Strasbourg and on 30 September 2018 at the Salle Pierre Boulez in the Philharmonie de Paris.
