Discover the ensemble
Visits to the instrumentarium – 1h
Les Percussions de Strasbourg offer guided tours of their instrumentarium. Guided by one of the percussionists through the ensemble’s many instruments, you are invited to spend an hour exploring the world of contemporary percussion. As well as ‘traditional’ percussion instruments, the ensemble’s instrumentarium contains many surprising and unexpected instruments.
Guided rehearsals – 1 hour
Guided rehearsals are organised prior to the performances given by the Percussions de Strasbourg at the Théâtre de Hautepierre. Participants attend guided work sessions during which the musicians fine-tune the final details before the concert. This is an opportunity to see extracts from the show and also to understand the different stages in creating a show. The guided rehearsals shed light on the many different professions involved in the world of show business, offering food for thought and an insight into the work. After attending the rehearsal, twenty minutes are devoted to a discussion with a mediator. This is an opportunity to discuss what you’ve seen and heard, to talk about the artistic approach and to relate it to the experience and feelings of the participants.
Pre-show prologues – 30 minutes (1 hour before the concerts at the Théâtre de Hautepierre) – free
This 30-minute guided tour behind the scenes invites visitors to explore the instruments on stage and explore the spaces of the vast instrumentarium of the Percussions de Strasbourg (instrument storage and rehearsal rooms). It also serves as an introduction to the ensemble’s sixty-year history and to the concert following the visit.
Percustra workshops
The Percustra workshops consist of 13 percussion and collective creation workshops from January to June. At the end of these sessions, the participants will perform in concert under professional conditions at the Théâtre de Hautepierre. Available at €3 to residents of Strasbourg’s inner-city neighbourhoods, the workshops are designed for beginners with no prior musical experience, aged 10 to 99.
