ABE KEIKO - Good days long gone for 6 percussionists
Création : 02 septembre 2017 @ Kalima Festival, Lausanne
Effectif : 6 percussionnistes
Durée de l’œuvre : 10′
I composed this piece to express my strong desire for the happiness I had during the good old days to return into my life. The first rhythm pattern echoed by two tubular bells expresses my lamenting for a return to better times, as if to cry out “happy days, come back to me！”. The melody which expresses in these good old days begins calmly and is composed of a rhythm pattern that develops into a sustained rhythm that permeates the piece. The improvisation. To offset this, the base rhythm increases in volume to create a powerful climax. Tubular bells and Thai gong play melody along this rhythm and, after its apex, the theme heard at the beginning is played again twice. A Vibraphones melody is played over silence as it lingers to a close.
